4 Days Sahara Desert Tour from Marrakech

Day 1: Marrakech to Dades Valley via High Atlas Mountains

Start your 4-day desert excursion at 8:00 AM with a pick-up from your hotel/Riad in Marrakech. Traverse the High Atlas Mountains via the spectacular Tizi N’Tichka Pass (2,260m), stopping at panoramic viewpoints for photos. You’ll pause to explore the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a stunning example of a fortified Berber village and famed film location.

In Ouarzazate, visit the renowned Atlas Film Studios, a hub of cinematic creativity. En route to the Dades Valley, pass through charming Berber villages and stop at a Damascus Rose cooperative (in season) to learn about local rose production. Your day concludes with an overnight stay in the Dades Valley.

Day 2: Dades Valley to Merzouga Sahara Desert via Todra Gorges

After breakfast, continue your journey to the impressive Todra Gorges. Enjoy a brief 15-minute walk between the towering 300-meter-high cliffs to stretch your legs and soak in the breathtaking views. Afterwards, drive towards the desert, arriving at the edge of the Sahara in Merzouga village. Here, you will embark on a classic camel trek into the golden sand dunes of Erg Chebbi.

The caravan will pause atop a high dune for you to witness a spectacular desert sunset before arriving at your traditional desert camp. The evening is filled with enchantment: enjoy a delicious dinner under the stars, gather around a bonfire, and listen to the rhythmic beats of Berber drums played by local guides. Spend a magical night in a private tent.

Day 3: Merzouga to Ouarzazate passing by Draa Valley

Awaken early to witness a spectacular sunrise over the desert dunes. Return to the main hotel by camel or 4×4 for breakfast and a refreshing shower. Today, you’ll depart for Ouarzazate, with a stop at the vibrant traditional market in Rissani.

Continue your journey through the stunning Draa Valley, famous for its vast palm groves—one of the longest in Morocco. Make several scenic stops to admire the view and take beautiful photographs. Arrive in Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” where you will spend the night in a beautiful Riad or hotel.

Day 4: Ouarzazate to Marrakech crossing High Atlas Mountains

Our 4-day Sahara tour concludes with a final day of exploration. You will have the opportunity to revisit and further explore the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou in the beautiful morning light. Then, begin the drive back to Marrakech, winding once more through the picturesque High Atlas Mountains.

There will be scenic stops along the way for photo opportunities and to enjoy the last of the majestic mountain views. Arrive in Marrakech by late afternoon, where you will be dropped off at your accommodation in the medina. End of your 4-day desert adventure from Marrakech.
