Greetings and welcome you in the airport. We will provide transportation to your hotel, located in the historic center of Marrakech, known as the Medina. On your initial day, you have the opportunity to explore the main square of Marrakech, allowing you to familiarize yourself with the city before our scheduled tour begins tomorrow.
Welcome to the city of tolerance and coexistence, the city of Marrakech. In the morning, around 9:30 a.m., you will meet with our local guide and start the exploratory walking tour of Marrakech. Today you will enjoy the most beautiful monuments in Medina, including the Koutobia mosque, Sadiaans tombs, Jemaa El Fna, Bahia Palace, and the vibrant souks of Marrakech.
After breakfast, we drive about an hour and a half to the high Atlas Mountains, where we stop to rest and take some beautiful pictures.Next, we drive a couple of hours and make another stop to visit one of the cooperatives of Moroccan Argan oil to see and understand the process. After 1 hour, we will get to Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, the fortified village, which has been classified as a UNESCO site since 1987. Lunch will be in Ait Ben Haddou after an hour of hiking in the Kasbah, then a half-hour drive. Night in Ouarzazate city.
Breakfast at the hotel.Continue our journey around the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Discover how and where nomadic families live, spectacular landscapes, and small desert towns. Departiremos, we will live and provide food to a typical Berber family. Closely know their customs and way of life. After the visit, we, the people of Khamelia, the native people of Mali, will enjoy a nice concert of Gnawa music. Back at the hotel, and go on a camel ride to watch the sunset. While enjoying an exquisite dinner, Moroccan tea, and drumming around the campfire, you can see the majestic canopy of stars that nature gives us. Simply spectacular night in the desert.
Around 9 a.m., we depart from Ouarzazate to Kelaat M’gouna (popular for its damascene rose groves), then to Todra Gorges to enjoy the beautiful red cliff canyons. Also, toudra is considered one of the most beautiful greens. Lunch will be in Touroug village, and then we will continue to Erfoud, famous for its fossil museums. From Erfoud, we drive to the Merzouga Desert, where you will stay a night in a hotel by the sand dunes.
The journey today will be around the desert area to explore the most beautiful parts of it. We will start our 4×4 tour at 10:00 a.m. with the Nomad families, who are still living in the desert areas. There we will have a cup of tea and talk about the Nomadic lifestyle and how Nomads are making their living.
Later on, we drive to the village of Khamlia or Gnaoua, passing by the mining minerals area, which is the source of income for a lot of families in the desert. In Khamlia village, we will enjoy the spiritual rhythms of the Gnaoui people (Africans but Subsaharians). We have lunch in Khamlia and drive back to Merzouga, where you will ride the camels and cross the sand dunes to stay in the camp, with a beautiful sunset on the way.
Embarking on our longest journey from Merzouga to Fes today, our first stop awaits us in Ziz Valley, showcasing the most beautiful palm groves in the area. Continuing through Midelt, known for its mineral mining and agriculture areas, we then traverse the Middle Atlas Mountains, making a pause in the cedar forest.
In the cedar forest, we may have a chance to see the wild Barbary apes feeding on the passersby. Our journey advances to the Moroccan Swiss (Ifrane city) for a brief stop before reaching Fes by late afternoon or evening time. We will spend the overnight stay in Fes, Médina.
Today, we are going on a guided tour of the ancient city of Fes, delving into its rich history and traditions as the cultural and spiritual capital of the Moroccan kingdom. Our journey commences at the royal palace, where we explore the seven exquisite golden doors, followed by the adjacent Jewish quarter.
The tour unfolds with a panoramic view of the medina, providing a backdrop to our exploration of various workshops, including those dedicated to poetry, ceramics, and mosaics. As we traverse the lively daily souk, our path leads us to the 13th-century tannery, a hub for leather production.
Departing from Fes, our journey takes us northward to Chefchaouen, known as the blue pearl of Morocco. The drive offers numerous stops to appreciate the scenic agricultural landscapes en route until we get to Meknes and Volubilis (Roman ruins).
After the guided tour in Volubilis to learn about the province of the Roman Empire in Morocco, we will continue driving to Chefchaouen. In the evening, we get to Chefchaouen and immerse ourselves in the blue streets of the city.
This morning is free for you to leisurely explore the picturesque blue-painted streets of Chefchaouen, capturing the beauty of its Instagram-worthy spots. Renowned for its tranquil ambiance and alpine weather, Chefchaouen promises a unique and relaxing experience.
After you’ve thoroughly enjoyed touring the medina and capturing memorable moments, our journey continues to Tangier, North Morocco. The approximately 2-hour drive brings us to Tangier, where we’ll visit the Hercules caves and the Cap Spartel lighthouse, which is in the Strait of Gibraltar. Following these explorations, we’ll check into a hotel in the city center of Tangier.
Leaving Tangier and heading to Rabat, the political capital of the Moroccan kingdom. On the way, we will enjoy the picturesque drive from Tangier to Rabat. Our journey includes a stop in the artistic town of Asilah for a brief exploration. Afterward, we continue to Rabat, where a delicious lunch awaits, complemented by visits to key attractions in the city. These include the iconic Hassan Tower, the impressive Mohammed V Mausoleum, and the historic Oudayas Kasbah or fortress.
It is the 11th day of our Morocco adventure, which marks our return journey to the starting point, the vibrant red city of Morocco, Marrakech. En route from Rabat to Marrakech, we will make a stop in Casablanca, the financial city of Morocco. In Casablanca, we’ll explore the Hassan II Grand Mosque, the largest mosque in Morocco open to non-Muslims.
This visit provides insight into Islamic art deco, Andalusian-style Moroccan architecture, and the harmonious blend of modern materials with authentic building techniques, creating a stunning masterpiece. Afterward, we’ll have lunch in Casablanca before a 3-hour drive takes us to Marrakech, where we will spend the night.
As we conclude our 12-day Morocco tour in Marrakech, we are scheduled to transport you to the airport two hours before your departure. Feel free to utilize any remaining time you may have before your flight home. The availability of this free time depends on your flight schedule.
