    Itinerary of

5 Days Agadir Sahara desert tour to Marrakech

    Day 1: Agadir – Marrakech

The tour will start in Agadir, either at your hotel or airport, and drive to Marrakech. The drive from Agadir to Marrakech will be around two hours. We will get to Marrakech around noon and meet with our local guide to explore the old city of Marrakech, which is referred to as Medina.

In this guided tour, we are going to visit the best monuments of Medina, such as the Bahia palace, Sadiaan tombs, the Jewish quarter (Mellah), the souks, and the famous square of Jemaa El Fna. You will have a free evening to enjoy dinner on your own on one of the rooftops of restaurants in the square for a unique night experience.

Day 2: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Gorge

This morning is the first day of a 5-day tour from Agadir to Marrakech. After leaving the city of Marrakech behind, we head south over the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260m). In this pass, we enjoy superb views of the mountains and of the Berber villages.

We stop for lunch in a traditional restaurant and visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. It has been a World Heritage Site since 1987. This famous Kasbah has been used as the backdrop for more than 20 films. After lunch, we continue through Ouarzazate, which is the gateway to southern Morocco.

Later, continue towards the Skoura oasis, which is a fertile area lined with immense palm groves. Following on from Skoura, we arrive at the Valley of Roses. Roses are a very important crop booster for the local population. The rose season begins around 10 April and ends around 20 May, depending on climate conditions.

The Rose Festival, or Moussem of Roses, takes place on the second weekend in May and lasts for two days. Many festivities take place, including performances by folk groups and the Miss Roses contest, whose winner then takes part in a procession on a decorated float. Traders from all over the region come to sell their specialties and handicraft products. Finally, on this day, we arrive at the spectacular Dades Gorge, and this is where you will have dinner and spend the night in your hotel.

Day 3: Dades Gorge – Todra Gorges – Merzouga

After breakfast at the hotel, we depart Dades Gorge and head towards Todra Gorges, a massive fault rising to 300m in a narrow valley.  Thickly dotted with palm groves and Berber villages. After lunch in the gorge, we go further into the Sahara to Merzouga, which has the largest natural underground body of water in all of Morocco and stands on the edge of the great sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. Dinner and overnight in a hotel in Merzouga

Day 4: Merzouga desert – Rissani – Nakoub – Ouarzazate

Today, in the early morning, we need to get up to see a spectacular sunrise rising behind the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Afterwards, you can have your lunch and take a shower to decide whether to ride camels back to the town or transfer you by jeep.

When you get to the village, we will continue our journey to Ouarzazate city. Before Ouarzazate, we make several stops, like Rissani, to visit the traditional market (Souk). The first market in the desert area is named Souk Tafilalet.

The trip will continue along the Acacia Tree Road until we get to the village of Nakoub, where we will lunch and carry on to the next town of Agdz. In Agdz, we can see the huge Draa oasis of date palms before arriving at Ouarzazte to stay the night.

    Day 5: Ouarzazate – Taliouine – Taroudant – Agadir

On the 5th day of our 5-day tour from Agadir, we drive from Ouarzazate city to Taznakht town, which is very popular for Berber traditional Kelims and carpets. If you are interested, we can make a visit to one of the cooperatives to learn about this art and the stories behind it.

Later, we continue driving to Taliouine (the best place in Morocco where they grow the Saffran). We have lunch in the Taliouin village and rest a little. From Talioune, we drive about 3 hours and a half to Agadir city, where we end the tour service of a 5-day tour from Agadir to the desert in a hotel or airport.
