5‑Day Rabat to Sahara & Imperial Cities Morocco Tour

  Begin your Rabat Morocco tour in the morning with departure toward Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities. Visit the impressive Bab Mansour gate, the old medina, and enjoy free time to explore the historic center. Afterward, continue the drive through fertile countryside toward Volubilis (The Roman ruins) and then to Fes. Arrive in the late afternoon, check into your traditional riad, and relax after the journey.

  After breakfast, you will start your visit of “the oldest living Medina in the world” with a local official tour guide. You will tour the Medina with its “souks” (markets), stopping at the gateway of the Royal Palace, the 9th century Karouine mosque and university. You will also visit the tomb of the city founder, Moulay Idriss II. Lunch will be at one of the traditional restaurants in the old Medina. After lunch you will continue your tour to visit the Najarine Fountain, the old Harem Garden and the Batha Museum. On the way back to the hotel, you will stop to enjoy a panoramic view of the city.

  Leave Fes and travel south toward the Sahara Desert from Rabat route, passing through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Drive through cedar forests and charming mountain towns like Ifrane and Midelt. The scenery changes as you reach the desert region. In the afternoon, arrive in Merzouga, where the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi rise from the landscape. Enjoy a camel ride at sunset and continue to your desert camp for dinner and overnight under the stars.

 Once you finish the breakfast in the desert, depart Merzouga and head toward the spectacular Todra Gorges, known for its towering canyon walls and beautiful river valley. Take time for photos and a short walk. Continue along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, passing palm groves, Berber villages, and ancient fortresses.  On the final day, drive through the scenic High Atlas Mountains toward Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Morocco’s most famous ksars.
