We leave Marrakech early in the morning to start our 5-day trip via the Atlas Mountains and Merzouga Desert. We cross the High Atlas via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, making short stops for photos of the breathtaking scenery.

Our journey takes us to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, a historic village renowned as a backdrop for numerous films. We then continue, enjoying the beautiful landscapes of the Valley of Roses, famous for its annual festival. After arriving in the dramatic Dades Gorges, we check into a local hotel for the night.

Day 2: Dades Gorges to Merzouga (Erg Chebbi)

Today we travel towards Merzouga, home to the highest sand dunes in North Africa: Erg Chebbi. Along the way, we pass through several oases. Beyond Rissani, we enjoy views of the lush Ziz Valley palm groves and the stark Hamada (stone desert) before arriving in Merzouga.

Here, we are greeted by camels waiting to take us on an adventure into the sand dunes. We will spend the night in a well-equipped desert camp in the middle of the Sahara—a perfect opportunity for stunning sunset and sunrise photos and to explore the boundless horizons of the desert.

Day 3: Full Day Exploring Merzouga

Today is dedicated to exploring the Merzouga Desert. You’ll have the opportunity for amazing photography and can explore the area by 4×4 vehicle. We visit Khamlia village, home to the Gnawa people, who are famous for their spiritual Gnawa music.

We will not miss the chance to witness another perfect sunset over the sand dunes. The night is spent in traditional Berber tents, enjoying local music and a delicious dinner of tagine.

Day 4: Merzouga to Zagora via Draa Valley

After an early breakfast at the camp, we ride the camels back to the hotel to take a shower. We then begin our trip toward Zagora, traveling through the stunning Draa Valley. The route takes us past the oasis of Rissani, through several Berber villages, and the Nkoub oasis. We spend the night in a local hotel in Zagora.
