Plan Itinerary: 5-day Marrakech desert tour and the Atlas Mountains
Around 8:30 we'll start our Five days desert trip from Marrakech by crossing the Atlas Mountains, passing through Tizi n'Tichka. We'll stop for photos and visit an argan oil cooperative to learn about its production. Next, we'll explore Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a famous fortified city and UNESCO World Heritage site where movies like "Gladiator" and shows like "Game of Thrones" were filmed. After lunch, we'll head to Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert. We'll then pass through the Valley of Roses, Skoura where the Amridil authentic kasbah still remains, and Boumalne Dades. We'll have dinner and stay overnight at a hotel in the Dades Valley.
After breakfast, we'll leave for Merzouga, passing through the Todra Gorges. We'll stop for lunch before continuing to the desert. We'll see the impressive Merzouga dunes, enjoy a welcome tea, and experience the hospitality of the desert people. We'll change the car for a camel ride to the camp, watch the sunset, have a traditional dinner with music, and spend the night in a luxury desert camp in an authentic place far away from the crowd.
Today you need to wake up early to watch the sunrise in the desert, then have breakfast. Meet your driver guide in the camp to start the desert exploratory tour. We'll spend the day exploring the desert region, visiting desert landscapes, mining minerals, fossil areas, and the Gnaoua village. First, we'll visit an old eyeliner mine, then meet nomads in their tents and learn about their lifestyle. Next, we'll visit Khamlia village to enjoy Gnaoua music and dance. After lunch, we'll walk through a palm grove and visit the Hassi Labied Oasis. We'll have dinner and stay overnight at a hotel or riad in the Merzouga region.
The journey today marks our 4th day of the Best 5-day desert excursion from Marrakech. We drive back to Ouarzazate city, passing through the Draa Valley and the Anti Atlas mountains. We are going to make several stops to enjoy the views in Nekoub village and Ait Saouen Mountain pass. We'll spend the night at a hotel or riad in Ouarzazate.
In the morning after breakfast, we'll leave the hotel and head towards the high atlas mountains. We'll drive back to Marrakech through the stunning Atlas mountains villages in a different way than we did on the first day of the tour, stopping to visit Kasbah Telouet, one of the oldest kasbahs in the region. After lunch, we'll continue to Marrakech, ending our 5-day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga desert.
